Matrices, Determinants, Probability

Algebra runs through both years of senior secondary mathematics. Class XI builds the toolkit — complex numbers, inequalities, permutations and combinations, the binomial theorem and sequences and series. Class XII adds matrices and determinants, which make systems of equations systematic, and probability, which rewards careful, logical counting.

These chapters score well when concepts are clear and working is accurate, and cost marks when small slips creep in. Practice focuses on both.

Highlights

  • Matrices and determinants, including systems of linear equations
  • Permutations, combinations and the binomial theorem
  • Sequences and series
  • Probability, from counting to conditional probability and Bayes’ theorem
